  Monterey-Salinas Transit (Mst) Provides Free Travel Training

Monterey-Salinas Transit (MST) provides free travel training on how to safely and independently ride the MST bus system.  MST offers travel training to individuals, groups, and organizations.  All coaches are fully accessible to persons with special mobility needs.  Training involves a brief classroom session and/or a bus ride accompanied by a travel trainer.  Types of training include general fixed-route travel training, destination-specific travel training, and mobility device travel training.


During the COVID-19 pandemic, MST is taking many important steps to ensure your travel training experience is both effective and safe.  These steps include the nightly application of a hospital-grade germicide to clean and sanitize all surfaces within the passenger cabins for all of our fixed-route and paratransit buses; the application of a pressurized ammonia solution to power wash and disinfect passenger waiting areas at major transfer locations; all MST staff working closely with the public are provided with gloves, N-95 masks, hand sanitizer, and eye protection, in order to keep themselves and those they are assisting safe; and the Mobility Services Center, where training may take place, will regularly apply commercial grade disinfectant to surfaces, and have recently had a GPS Bi-Polar Ionization system installed to reduce the infectivity of any viruses in the building.

Gentle Yoga Flow on Tuesdays

Monterey Bay Moves will present a gentle 30-min Yoga Flow every Tuesday at 12:05 PM on Zoom. The entire community is welcome.

Senior Connect Thursdays on Zoom

Every Thursday at 11 am, Monterey County Behavioral Health hosts Senior Connect, a community of seniors who come together to learn and support each other to keep emotionally, psychologically, and physically healthy. There is no registration and no fees. The group is scheduled to meet through November 19.

COVID-19 Emergency Utility Assistance Program

Monterey One Water

In collaboration with the County of Monterey and the United Way of Monterey County, a COVID-19 Emergency Utility Assistance Program is now available for Monterey One Water residential customers. This program is designed to provide utility relief for eligible households facing financial instability because of a loss or reduction of income due to COVID-19.


Funding for this program was provided through the CARES Act and the program is available until all funds have been allocated or December 30, 2020, whichever comes first. Applications will be reviewed and approved on a first-come-first-served basis. If approved, Monterey One Water will issue a one-time credit to the customer’s account in the amount of up to two billing cycles. Missed payments must have occurred between April 2020 through November 2020. Complete details at

Advance Health Care Planning Workshops

During COVID-19 Hospice Giving Foundation is offering free daily online Advance Health Care Planning workshops. Workshops will be offered M-W-F at noon; Tu-Th at 5:30 PM. In these interactive 45-minute sessions, workshop attendees will learn how to access, complete and formalize their wishes using an Advance Health Care Directive.

Governor Newsom announced  a meal delivery program for senior citizens in California.


The program provides three nutritious meals a day to senior citizens at home. All meals are to be prapared by local restaturants using only locally produce foods.

California For All Information Guide on COVID-19

Governor’s Office, the California Department of Aging, and AARP CA partnered to launch the California For All resource card, a FREE, one-stop information guide.

The resource card is a centerpiece of the “Stay Home. Save Lives. Check In.” campaign, which urges all Californians to help combat social isolation and food insecurity by checking in on vulnerable neighbors with a call, a text, or a “physically-distanced” knock on the door.


The card is also available electronically, and it can be DOWNLOADED HERE.  A Spanish and Chinese language digital card will be available this week.

The Marina Senior Center is a fun, safe, healthy environment and affordable program where all seniors can participate. We offer a variety of recreational opportunities for the seniors of Marina and our surrounding communities.


The Marina Senior Center is open to adults ages 55 and up. Our doors open from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm on Monday through Friday. We are closed on weekends and holidays.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a considered path to reduce stress and improve physical balance. 

Board Games & Coffee

Seniors play checkers, dominoes and possibly an assortment of card games.

Thanksgiving Meal Pick-Up Instructions:

Important Notes: Reservations are required. Meals will be distributed by appointment/reservation only every half hour from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Face masks will be required for everyone when picking up Thanksgiving meals.

1. Please do not arrive early. Your reservation guarantees your Thanksgiving meal. All meals will be pre-packaged and the same for everyone.

2. Location is the large parking lot at El Estero Park - Dennis the Menace Playground, 777 Pearl St.

3. Arrive at the location by traveling West on Pearl St. (towards downtown Monterey) and make a right into the parking lot. There are no left turns allowed into or out of the parking lot (see map).

4. Follow signs and please stay in your vehicle and unlock/open trunk when pulling into the pick-up area.

5. If you are walking, please check-in at the designated walk-up entrance.
